About this asset

LumiBounce adds soft, screen-space bounce light to scenes lit with LumiBrush.

Light from your painted cookies spreads onto nearby walls, cliffs and overhangs and picks up the color of the light that caused it.

Control the look:

  • Intensity: how bright the bounce is
  • Bounce Radius: how far it spreads from lit areas
  • Bounce Height: how high it reaches above the ground
  • Floor / Wall / Ceiling Bounce: how strongly each surface direction receives it

Requires LumiBrush.

Technical details

LumiBounce is a screen-space post effect that fakes bounce light from a painted LumiBrush light cookie:

  • Once per frame, the cookie is pre-blurred into a small "bounce field" texture. Each pixel then reads it with a single lookup to get how much lit ground is nearby and what colour it is.
  • Surfaces are reconstructed from the depth buffer. Bounce is weighted separately for floors, walls and ceilings and fades with height above the lit ground.
  • Optional geometry occlusion (with a depth-aware blur) and layer filtering refine where bounce lands. The layer filtering uses a light-view render of the scene, so no colliders are needed.
  • Intensity, radius and height scale with the directional light's intensity.
  • Works in URP, HDRP and the Built-in pipeline. Quality presets range from half-resolution with an edge-aware upscale to full resolution with sharper bounce shapes.
