Lucky Wheel adds a prize wheel to the main menu of the BulletHell Elemental Template. Players spend a currency to spin and win currencies, profile icons, frames, characters or items. A grand prize is always on the wheel, and a pity counter guarantees it after a number of spins without it.

Everything is set up with ScriptableObjects, no code needed:

  • Wheel Definition: number of segments, grand prizes, common prizes, reserve prize, spin cost, grand prize chance, guarantee, free spin cooldown and multi spin.
  • Prize Item: currency, icon, frame, character or inventory item, with an option to win it only once per player.

Features:

  • Grand prize with its own chance and a pity guarantee, shown with a counter and a progress bar.
  • Free spin with a cooldown, to bring players back every day.
  • Multi spin ("SPIN x10", up to 20 spins) with a results popup.
  • Prizes won once leave the wheel and are replaced by the reserve prize.
  • Odds popup with the chance of every prize, as some stores and regions require for paid random rewards.
  • Spin history and a preview of the next grand prizes.
  • Rim lights, pointer animation, colors per rarity and sounds for the spin and the prizes.
  • Every text can be translated with the template's language system.
  • Mobile friendly layout that fits short and narrow screens, with its own sprite atlas.

On each backend:

  • Offline: the spin is rolled on the device and saved locally.
  • Firebase: the cost, the prize, the wheel state and the history are saved in one transaction. No extra rules or indexes needed.
  • WebSocket + SQL: the server rolls every spin, charges the cost, gives the prizes and checks the free spin cooldown, so players cannot cheat the wheel.

A spin sent twice by a bad connection is only charged once.

Setup: add the UILuckyWheel prefab to the Home scene canvas and open it from a menu button. An example wheel with its prizes is included.
