Turn-Based Arena is a complete multiplayer turn-based RPG template for Unity: a monster-collecting (gacha) RPG with 3D turn-based battles, real-time PvP friendly battles, an asynchronous PvP arena, a story mode with tutorial, dungeons, a tower, guilds, chat and a home island. It ships with the full authoritative server (Node.js, Colyseus, MySQL/MariaDB and Redis), and the same game also runs 100% offline.
The demo is in 3D, and 2D is supported out of the box: monsters and battles can use 2D sprites with the same systems, data and screens.
Both the offline and the online mode run the same battle engine and the same rules. Every rule is a ScriptableObject you edit in Unity and send to the server with one click, so you build your own monster RPG without writing the battle engine, the progression systems or the backend from scratch.

REAL-TIME PVP AND FRIENDLY BATTLES
- Live turn-based PvP: challenge friends and guild mates to real-time friendly battles, both players playing their own team.
- Team lock before the fight, a turn timer (the AI plays the turn on timeout) and reconnection if a player drops.
- Battles run on the server with the same engine as PvE, so every result is authoritative.
PVP ARENA (ASYNCHRONOUS)
- Attack the defense teams of other players, played by the battle AI, at any time.
- Elo rating, ranking, arena seasons with tiers and season rewards sent by mail.
- Defense team setup, defense log, opponent list refresh and NPC rivals to fill the ladder.
STORY MODE AND TUTORIAL
- Story mode on a world map: 6 regions with Easy, Normal, Hard and Hell difficulties, stage rewards and boss stages.
- Story dialogues and a guided tutorial that highlights the buttons to press, built as ScriptableObject dialogue sequences with triggers, conditions and rewards.
- Edit the sequences in the Inspector, or write long scripts as JSON and import them as assets in one click (lines and translations included).
- Tutorial Definition asset for the guaranteed first summons of new players.
- New-player quests that lead beginners through the main systems.
DUNGEONS AND TOWER
- Elemental dungeons with a weekday schedule, for awakening essences and runes.
- Seasonal tower: climb one floor at a time, with weekly or monthly resets and first-clear rewards every season.
TURN-BASED BATTLE SYSTEM
- 3D turn-based battles with an attack bar (turn order by speed), multiple waves and boss stages.
- Four turn systems built in: attack bar (ATB), speed rounds, alternating sides and team phases.
- Skills with multi-hits, critical and glancing hits, buffs and debuffs, passives and leader skills.
- 5 elements with advantages: Fire, Water, Ground, Light and Dark.
- Auto battle, battle speed 1x / 2x / 3x, surrender and battle reconnection.
- Skill VFX library, hits synced to the animations, split damage numbers, status icons and a cel shader with presets.
- Battle maps for every region, dungeon, the tower and the arena, plus a Battle Map Authoring tool to build new ones.
MONSTER COLLECTION AND PROGRESSION
- 231 demo monsters: 47 families in 5 elements, each with its own skills, a leader skill and an awakened form.
- Summons with weighted scrolls, rate-up banners and a summon cinematic.
- Levels, star evolution, power-up with fodder monsters, awakening with essences and skill-ups.
- Runes: six slots, rune sets, main stats and substats, upgrades and a rune screen for every monster.
GUILDS, CHAT AND SOCIAL
- Guilds with roles, join requests, guild quests and guild chat.
- Friends list, private messages and friendly battle challenges.
- Global chat channels with a server-side word filter, and player reports.
- Mailbox and rankings.
HOME ISLAND, SHOP AND LIVE-OPS
- Home island builder: buildings and decorations on a grid, production buildings and island expansions.
- Shop with purchase limits, rotations and discounts.
- Real-money purchases with Unity IAP 5 and server-side receipt validation for Google Play and the App Store, plus a demo mode to test purchases without a store account.
- Daily missions, achievements and a daily check-in calendar.
- Accounts: email and password or guest login, account linking and account deletion.
AUTHORITATIVE MULTIPLAYER SERVER (INCLUDED)
- Node.js + TypeScript server built on Colyseus, with MySQL or MariaDB storage and Redis.
- The server runs every battle. The client only sends intents; rewards, drops, currencies, summons and purchases are decided on the server, inside transactions.
- The same battle engine runs on the client and on the server, checked by cross-language parity tests.
- Idempotent rewards and purchases, rate limiting, anti-cheat checks and security hardening.
- Web GM Console: players, guilds, chat moderation, reports, grants, mail, maintenance, logs and an audit log.
- Step-by-step guide to deploy the server on an Ubuntu VPS, with or without Cloudflare.
OFFLINE MODE
- The whole game also runs on the device with no server: a local simulation of the server with the same rules and an encrypted, tamper-checked save.
- Switch between Offline and Online with one setting, without changing any gameplay code.
EASY TO CUSTOMIZE
- Every game rule is a ScriptableObject: monsters, skills, passives, leader skills, the combat formula, elements, rarities, currencies, runes, summon scrolls, shop, regions and stages, dungeons, tower, arena, story dialogues and tutorial, home buildings, missions, guilds, mail and rankings.
- One-click export of the game data to the server (direct upload or a zip).
- 3D or 2D: use 3D models or 2D sprites for monsters and battles.
- Clean C# architecture: small backend interfaces, dependency injection (VContainer) and async code (UniTask), with guides for adding your own features on the client and the server.
- Localization: English, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
- Documentation that explains every ScriptableObject and Inspector setting, online and as an offline PDF included in the package.
