Iceland Ambience

Iceland has a stark, quiet quality outdoors and a very specific set of interior sounds. 344 SFX - Iceland Ambience is a field recording collection from Reykjavik and the Icelandic countryside, covering natural landmarks, city streets, and distinctive interior spaces.

The waterfall recordings are the largest group. Multiple perspectives of a major waterfall are covered from a close, heavy position through to distant views from above and to the side, with rapids recordings also included. Geothermal stream recordings give you the quiet bubbling quality of hot spring water in the open air. The Great Geysir is recorded through a full eruption cycle with tourist reaction and the sound of the water column. Reykjavik city centre gives you the main pedestrian road with voices and passing vehicles. A coach bus journey is recorded from the interior over a long drive with stops and starts. The most distinctive recordings come from a large stone church, with multiple seating positions capturing the natural reverb of the hall with distant tourist movement. A live organ performance in the same space gives you three separate recordings ranging from ethereal to uplifting, all captured at close range inside the hall. A hotel dining room, distant countryside thunder, and a sea beach with lapping waves round out the collection.
