About this asset

Dynamic Fire Spread System adds interactive fire to Unity scenes. Objects heat up, catch fire, spread heat to nearby objects, and switch to a burned model when their fuel runs out. Water extinguishes flames and leaves objects wet, preventing immediate re-ignition until they dry.

Different materials, different behavior

Use material profiles to control ignition thresholds, burning duration, heat output, spread radius, cooling, and drying. Make straw catch fire quickly, wood burn longer, or metal remain nonflammable. Objects can share profiles, or you can create separate settings for individual props.

Fire that responds to your scene

Heat spreads according to the distance between objects, with adjustable wind direction and strength. Optional collider checks let walls and other obstacles block heat transfer. Arrange combustible objects close together for a chain reaction, or use gaps to limit the spread.

Water and extinguishing

Connect the water emitter to your player controller to spray a targeted area. Adjust the water rate and splash radius, and use the included stream and splash effects. Extinguished objects retain their remaining fuel and can catch fire again after drying.

Use your own models

Add a Burnable component to your props and assign their normal and burned models. The system handles the model swap, along with gradual darkening and wetness tint. UnityEvents let you connect ignition, extinguishing, and burnout to sound, objectives, damage, or other gameplay systems.

Included content

  • A configured training-yard demo with 16 interactive objects.
  • Five reusable low-poly prefabs: wooden crate, timber pallet, straw bale, pine tree, and steel barrel.
  • Four material profiles: Wood, Dry Straw, Living Timber, and nonflammable Steel.
  • Fire and smoke particles, flickering fire lights, and water effects.
  • Demo controls for ignition, spraying water, pausing, and resetting.
  • English setup instructions in PDF, TXT, and Markdown.

Suitable for survival games, firefighting gameplay, sandbox scenes, and environmental hazards.

Tested with Unity 2022.3.62f3. Included materials use the Built-in Render Pipeline; URP and HDRP require compatible replacement materials. The demo supports Legacy Input Manager and the Input System.

The package uses a gameplay heat model. Fluid simulation, structural destruction, audio, networking, and save/load functionality are not included.
