About this asset

SaveGuard adds AES-256 encryption and HMAC-SHA256 tamper detection to Unity save files and PlayerPrefs, so players can't open a save file in a text editor and grant themselves extra currency, unlock progress, or edit stats undetected.

The API is a drop-in replacement for common patterns: SecureSaveManager.Save/Load for full save objects, and a SecurePlayerPrefs class that mirrors Unity's own PlayerPrefs for smaller values like settings and high scores. Keys are generated from a single button in a custom Inspector - no manual cryptography setup required.

A Save Inspector editor window lets you view, edit, and re-sign save files directly during development, and a build-time validation check blocks accidental builds shipped without generated keys.

Full C# source is included, with no external dependencies beyond TextMeshPro, which is used only by the optional demo scene UI.

Honest scope: SaveGuard deters casual save-file editing. It is not a substitute for server-authoritative anti-cheat in competitive multiplayer games - no client-side package can fully stop a determined reverse-engineer, since encryption keys ship inside your build.

Full documentation - setup guide, demo scene walkthrough, and script reference - is included in the package as a PDF.

SaveGuard contains no shaders, materials, or render-pipeline-specific assets - it's a pure C# save-encryption utility. The included demo scene uses standard Unity UI (Canvas + TextMeshPro), which renders identically under Built-in, URP, HDRP, or any custom render pipeline.
