XR Build Doctor - Quest & OpenXR Build + Release Preflight OFFICIAL SALE

XR Build Doctor is a Unity Editor tool for checking XR projects before you build or prepare a release. It is focused on Meta Quest and OpenXR Android workflows and brings project configuration, performance, scene health and release checks into one place.

The current version includes 53 validation checks. Instead of treating every finding as an error, results are separated into Pass, Info, Warning and Critical states so you can see what actually needs attention.

XR Build Doctor currently provides three validation profiles:

  • Meta Quest — Release
  • Meta Quest — Development
  • Generic OpenXR — Android

The selected profile changes how applicable checks are evaluated. For example, some settings that are acceptable during development may need attention when preparing a release.

Project scanning

A Full Scan checks areas such as Android configuration, XR packages and providers, graphics settings, Android quality settings, scene setup and release configuration.

The dashboard shows an overall readiness score along with results grouped by category. Individual findings can include the current value, a recommended value, an explanation of why the check matters, and the relevant Unity settings location.

For selected platform-related rules, source and verification information is also included so changing platform requirements can be distinguished from general project recommendations.

Safe fixes

Some configuration problems can be corrected directly from the tool.

Safe Fix is only offered for changes that XR Build Doctor considers suitable for automatic correction. Settings that can depend on the needs of an individual project are left as recommendations rather than being changed automatically.

Fix All Safe can apply the available safe fixes together and then rescan the project.

Ship Check

Ship Check is a release-focused scan for:

Meta Quest / Horizon Store or Generic OpenXR Android.

For Meta Quest release workflows, it also takes applicable Android target API policy into account and separates release concerns from general development recommendations.

Ship Check is intended as a final preflight aid, not as a replacement for the current submission requirements published by Unity, Meta or other target-platform providers.

Pre-build validation

XR Build Doctor can run automatically before Unity player builds.

Pre-build validation can be enabled without blocking builds, or it can be configured to stop a build when a Critical issue is found. This is useful for catching known configuration problems before producing a release build.

Reports and CI

Scan results can be exported as TXT or JSON.

JSON reports use a versioned schema and contain structured rule information suitable for build records and automated workflows. Command-line / batch-mode validation is also included for CI use.

Areas currently covered

The 53 checks cover areas including Android build support and target configuration, IL2CPP and CPU architecture, Android API levels, Active Input Handling, XR provider configuration, OpenXR-related setup, Vulkan and graphics configuration, Android quality settings, VSync, MSAA, stripping, multithreaded rendering, cameras, Audio Listeners, EventSystems, missing scripts, broken serialized references, build scenes, large build-input assets, StreamingAssets, application identification, versioning, debugging options and Android signing.

Package requirements

XR Build Doctor is Editor-only and does not add runtime components to your application.

It does not require Meta XR SDK, OpenXR, XR Interaction Toolkit or Input System simply to import and open the tool. When those packages are present, XR Build Doctor detects the relevant configuration and applies the checks that are appropriate to the selected profile.

No account, subscription, cloud service, analytics service or external AI service is required to use XR Build Doctor.
