About this asset

Turn a tester's game session into a useful bug report. Runtime QA Console & Bug Reporter is an in-game log viewer and QA tool for developers who need errors, stack traces, reproduction notes, and performance context together.

INSPECT LOGS DURING GAMEPLAY

Capture logs, warnings, errors, and exceptions in bounded history. Search messages, filter by severity, inspect stack traces, and copy a selected entry without switching to the Editor console.

EXPORT ACTIONABLE BUG REPORTS

Collect tester notes, application/device metadata, rolling FPS, frame time, managed memory, and an optional screenshot in a ZIP with JSON and readable text output. Report generation locks against duplicate UI requests, uses unique filenames, and recovers from ordinary export failures.

CONFIGURE WHAT YOUR TEAM SHARES

Apply built-in and project-specific literal or regular-expression redaction rules to report text and metadata. Pattern-based redaction cannot guarantee every secret is removed and does not alter screenshot pixels. Review exported reports before sharing.

FIT YOUR TESTING WORKFLOW

Use the included QAConsoleUI prefab and demo scene, desktop or compact safe-area-aware uGUI layouts, saved severity/screenshot preferences, configurable legacy hotkey, optional gameplay pause, and Open QA launcher. Register approved developer callbacks as tester actions; the console does not execute arbitrary command text.

LOCAL REPORTS, SIMPLE INTEGRATION

The reporting workflow runs locally without a hosted reporting service or subscription. Screenshot capture, image encoding, collection, and serialization use the main thread; archive/file work runs in the background where supported. Android sharing and WebGL download integrations are included, with synchronous WebGL export. These native/browser flows require fresh target-platform validation for this update.

CURRENT COMPATIBILITY

Reviewed on Unity 2022.3.62f2 in the Windows Editor with Built-in/uGUI, TextMeshPro 3.0.6, legacy input, and default reload. Input System-only projects supply a compatible host EventSystem and bind their own visibility actions. URP/HDRP and new native player/device/browser certification are not claimed. See Technical details and the included README for setup.

Technical details

• Unity 2022.3.62f2; current validation: Windows Editor with graphics, Built-in Render Pipeline, legacy input, default domain/scene reload.

• Required Package Manager dependencies: uGUI 1.0.0 and TextMeshPro 3.0.6. Unity Test Framework 1.1.33 is needed only for included tests. A .unitypackage does not install these dependencies automatically.

• Screen Space Overlay uGUI, package-local Inter font, TMP settings/materials/shader. URP/HDRP/custom SRP compatibility is not newly certified.

• Bounded thread-safe log capture; message and stack-trace limits; search; severity filters; scrollable details.

• ZIP export: tester notes, logs, stack traces, application/device metadata, performance snapshot, optional screenshot, JSON and readable text.

• Pattern-based text redaction with Inspector-configured literal/regex rules. Screenshots are not redacted; review reports before sharing.

• Rolling FPS, frame time, and managed-memory snapshot; explicitly registered debug callbacks.

• Desktop/compact safe-area-aware layouts; saved filters and screenshot preference; Open QA launcher; optional pause with owner-aware restoration.

• Built-in F8/Escape/controller-back polling requires Input Manager or Both. Input System-only projects provide InputSystemUIInputModule and host actions for ToggleConsole/SetConsoleVisible. Physical controller delivery is not newly certified.

• Android native share and WebGL download implementations included. Fresh Windows player, Android device, and WebGL browser checks remain required for this update.

• Included prefab, demo scene, source, documentation, and automated tests. Fresh import passed 81 EditMode + 102 PlayMode cases.

• Asset Store release 1.1.0; included source documentation uses internal maintenance version 0.6.0.

• Namespace: RuntimeQA. Root: Assets/RuntimeQAConsole. Documentation: Assets/RuntimeQAConsole/README.md.

• No hosted backend or reporting subscription required. Default-reload baseline; disabled-reload operation is not newly certified.
