About this asset
Gaussian Blur for Objects – URP is a customizable Shader Graph package designed to apply a Gaussian-style blur effect directly to individual 3D objects in Unity's Universal Render Pipeline.
Unlike full-screen camera blur effects, this package allows the blur material to be applied only to selected meshes. This makes it suitable for blurred objects, stylized characters, censored models, ghost-like visuals, transitions, focus effects, holograms, and animated object reveals.
The shader includes an adjustable Offset property that controls the strength and spread of the blur. Smaller values create a subtle softening effect, while larger values produce a stronger and more visible blur.
The included OffsetLoop component can automatically animate the blur offset between zero and a selected maximum value, creating a smooth repeating blur and unblur transition.
Main features:
• Gaussian-style blur for individual 3D objects
• Built specifically for the Universal Render Pipeline
• Created with Unity Shader Graph
• Adjustable blur offset
• Smooth animated blur transitions
• Does not require a full-screen post-processing effect
• Blur can be applied only to selected meshes
• Original and blurred material examples
• Ready-to-use example prefabs
• Sample armor model included
• Customizable source texture
• Lightweight C# animation component
• No third-party runtime dependencies
The package includes an original-material prefab and a Gaussian-blurred prefab, allowing users to quickly compare the original object with the processed result.
The included demonstration model is used to present the blur effect on a detailed object containing metallic armor, fabric, leather, and other surface details.
