Simple Drift Controller replaces Unity's WheelCollider with a raycast-based suspension system purpose-built for drift. Every axle has independent left and right suspension travel, true camber dynamics, a three-region tire model, and a fully tunable drivetrain, from the engine torque curve and gear ratios to differential bias ratios and anti-roll bar stiffness.


Use the Auto-Configure wizard to go from meshes to a sliding vehicle in under a minute, or build your hierarchy manually for full control.


Camber System

  • Static camber from -12 to +5 degrees
  • Dynamic camber driven by body roll with configurable factor (0-5x) and clamping
  • Left and right wheels use mirrored camber angles automatically
  • Camber thrust generates lateral force toward the lean direction for sharper turn-in
  • Grip penalty at excessive camber angles, reduces peak lateral force proportionally

Drivetrain

  • Engine simulation: multi-keyframe torque curve, rotational inertia, kinematic RPM coupling, stall detection
  • Automatic transmission: configurable gear ratios (4/5/6-speed presets), shift-up/down RPM thresholds, shift duration
  • Differential models: Open, Locked, and Limited-Slip with configurable torque bias ratio
  • Clutch kick: brief torque spike (1-5x multiplier, 0.1-1s duration) to break traction on demand

Tire Model

  • Three-region lateral force curve: linear climb to peak, gradual falloff, residual grip in full slide
  • Peak slip angle, max slip angle, and slide grip ratio, fully tunable per axle
  • Friction circle coupling, throttle and brake forces interact with lateral grip
  • Relaxation length, lateral force builds based on tire rolling distance
  • Speed-scaled force response for progressive turn-in at low speed

Steering

  • Max steer angle up to 70 degrees for angle kit builds
  • Sensitivity, smooth speed, and auto-return per axle
  • High-speed reduction for forgiving arcade feel at speed
  • Invert steer per axle

Drift Scoring

  • Chassis slip angle detection with configurable minimum angle and speed thresholds
  • Score accumulation: angle over time with multiplier
  • Countersteering detection with bonus points
  • Drift count, max angle tracking, and cooldown between drifts
  • Public API for reset and live score access

Camera

  • Drift-aware chase camera with lateral swing-out proportional to drift angle
  • Velocity-based look direction blending (0-1)
  • Speed pushback and ground-height avoidance
  • Mouse freelook with auto-recenter when driving
  • Spin yaw threshold prevents camera whip during lost control
  • Multi-camera manager for switching views

Effects and Feedback

  • Per-wheel skid marks via TrailRenderer prefabs, spawned and driven by slip
  • Per-wheel smoke via ParticleSystem prefabs, spawned and driven by slip
  • Both prefab slots are optional and independent
  • Exclude steering axles checkbox for rear-only effects
  • Tire screech audio with auto-created AudioSource, smooth fade in/out, and configurable volume/pitch curves
  • No start/stop artifacts, audio loops continuously and fades volume only

Audio

  • Dual AudioSource system for engine sound, auto-created if none exists
  • RPM-blended pitch and volume between idle and running clips
  • Always-audible engine floor at idle (minimum 0.15 volume)
  • Shift sound support with one-shot clip on gear change
