OxHeart - Game Framework for Unity screenshot 1
About this asset
OxHeart is a modular Unity 6 game-development framework that gives you production-grade versions of the systems every game rebuilds from scratch without locking you into a genre or art style.
Toggle services on or off. Extend the engine with your own game services. Ship on desktop and mobile with IL2CPP-safe patterns and docs written for real projects.
IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTICE
OxHeart requires Unity 6000.0 or newer.
Before importing the Asset Store .unitypackage, ensure Newtonsoft JSON 3.2.1 or newer, Addressables 2.9.1 or newer, and uGUI 2.0.0 or newer are installed through Package Manager. Asset Store .unitypackage imports cannot install these dependencies automatically.
OxHeart supports the Built-in Render Pipeline, URP, and HDRP on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. WebGL is not supported.
OxHeart includes no analytics backend and sends no telemetry by itself. The optional analytics abstraction is disabled by default.
The package includes original procedurally generated sample audio dedicated to CC0 1.0. See the bundled Third Party Notices.md file for details.
See Technical Details below for complete requirements, platform limitations, IL2CPP guidance, and package contents.
Why OxHeart?
⚡ MODULAR BY DESIGN
Enable only what you need through ServiceConfiguration assets. Use a minimal core for prototypes or enable the full service stack for production.
🏗 CLEAN, EXTENSIBLE ARCHITECTURE
Services are accessed through documented interfaces such as IAudioService, ISaveSystem, IEventManager, and ISceneService. Game-specific services can be registered through an automatically discovered IServiceRegistrar.
🌀 CUSTOM SERVICE LIFECYCLE
RegisterManaged lets custom services participate in OxHeart's LateInitialize and Shutdown lifecycle without requiring changes to the engine.
🚀 RESOURCES AND ADDRESSABLES
Use Resources immediately with the shipped configuration, then enable Addressables when your project is ready. OxHeart supports asynchronous loading, AssetReference APIs, memory budgeting, release tracking, and fallback behavior.
💾 PRODUCTION-READY PERSISTENCE
The save system supports asynchronous operations, multiple slots, auto-save, quick-save, compression, encryption, schema migrations, corrupt-file quarantine, and pluggable ISaveStore backends.
A built-in editor validator identifies save data shapes that IL2CPP managed stripping could silently remove.
🎮 DETERMINISTIC GAMEPLAY
Named deterministic RNG streams, saved RNG snapshots, weighted rolls, anti-pity probability helpers, typed pool bags, and an IL2CPP safe ModelDb content registry support reproducible gameplay and testing.
🔊AUDIO THAT SCALES
Audio tracks, source pooling, fades, 3D audio, mixer support, and a Music Playlist Service with sequential and shuffle playback, preload lookahead, crossfades, per-track gain, and now playing metadata.
📜 LOCALIZATION AND DIAGNOSTICS
CSV localization tables, runtime language switching, LocString formatting, DynamicVar substitution, pluralization, localized asset references, and fallback languages.
The editor only Localization Health Scanner detects malformed tables, missing translations, placeholder mismatches, fallback cycles, pluralization gaps, configuration problems, and broken localized asset references.
📊 BACKEND-AGNOSTIC ANALYTICS
IAnalyticsService provides one optional telemetry call site without coupling game code to a specific provider. OxHeart includes no analytics provider and sends no telemetry by itself. Analytics is disabled by default.
🔬 INSPECTOR PRODUCTIVITY
Add [OxButton] to a parameterless MonoBehaviour or ScriptableObject method to display it as an Inspector button without writing a custom editor. Private methods, custom labels, Undo, inheritance, and multi object editing are supported.
⚖️ LEGAL AND RELEASE TOOLING
Generate consolidated Third Party Notices, deterministic compliance manifests, and concise credits for resolved UPM packages.
Optional build policies can warn or fail when a package license is unknown or the accepted compliance manifest has changed.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS — PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING
UNITY COMPATIBILITY
- Requires Unity 6000.0 or newer.
- Unity 2022 LTS and earlier versions are not supported.
- Compatible with the Built-in Render Pipeline, Universal Render Pipeline, and High Definition Render Pipeline.
- OxHeart contains no render-pipeline-specific rendering code.
SUPPORTED PLATFORMS
Supported:
- Windows using Mono or IL2CPP
- macOS using Mono or IL2CPP
- Linux using Mono or IL2CPP
- iOS using IL2CPP
- Android using IL2CPP
⚠️ Not supported:
- WebGL
WebGL is not supported because asynchronous save and load operations, obfuscation, and the file logging sink use background-thread APIs unavailable on WebGL.
REQUIRED UNITY PACKAGES
OxHeart declares the following Unity Registry dependencies:
- com.unity.nuget.newtonsoft-json 3.2.1 or newer
Used for save-system JSON serialization. - com.unity.addressables 2.9.1 or newer
Required for compilation. Runtime Addressables loading is optional. - com.unity.ugui 2.0.0 or newer
Supplies Unity UI and TextMeshPro types used by runtime UI components and samples. - com.unity.modules.audio 1.0.0
Built-in Unity module used by the audio service. - com.unity.modules.physics 1.0.0
Built-in Unity module used by bundled samples.
⚠️ Asset Store .unitypackage imports cannot install Unity Package Manager dependencies automatically.
Before importing OxHeart:
- Open Window > Package Manager.
- Select Add package by name.
- Install com.unity.nuget.newtonsoft-json version 3.2.1 or newer.
- Install com.unity.addressables version 2.9.1 or newer.
- Confirm com.unity.ugui version 2.0.0 or newer is installed.
- Import OxHeart after the packages finish installing.
uGUI and the built-in Audio and Physics modules are normally present in a standard Unity 6 project.
If OxHeart was imported first and Unity reports missing package types, install the required packages and allow Unity to recompile.
Addressables is required for compilation, but Addressables initialization is disabled in the shipped configuration. OxHeart uses Resources by default. Enable Addressables after your project has Addressables settings and built groups.

IL2CPP AND MANAGED STRIPPING
The standard Asset Store installation places OxHeart under Assets/OxHeart.
The included Assets/OxHeart/link.xml file preserves OxHeart's four runtime assemblies when building with IL2CPP and managed stripping.
The shipped link.xml protects OxHeart assemblies only. Game side types created exclusively through reflection still require preservation. This includes:
- IServiceRegistrar implementations
- Custom services created through reflection
- Reflection-only interfaces and implementations
- Save-data members that are not referenced statically
Use Unity's Preserve attribute or add the affected types to a link.xml file under your project's Assets folder.
IMPORTANT FOR MANUALLY RELOCATED INSTALLATIONS:
If you move OxHeart from Assets/OxHeart into the Packages folder, Unity ignores the link.xml file at the UPM package root. The linker can then remove OxHeart's reflection-created service constructors.
This failure appears in an IL2CPP player and might not appear in the Unity Editor.
If you relocate OxHeart into Packages, copy the four assembly-preservation entries documented in Documentation~/IL2CPP.md or IL2CPP Documentation into a link.xml file located anywhere under your project's Assets folder.
Default Asset Store installations at Assets/OxHeart require no additional action.
INPUT
- OxHeart does not include an input service.
- Use Unity's Input System or legacy Input Manager directly in your game code.
- com.unity.inputsystem is intentionally not a package dependency.
- Bundled interactive samples use the Input System when it is installed and active.
- Samples fall back to the legacy Input Manager when available.
- On-screen sample controls remain functional when keyboard shortcuts are unavailable.
ANALYTICS AND NETWORK ACCESS
- OxHeart provides an optional IAnalyticsService abstraction.
- No analytics provider or SDK is bundled.
- Analytics is disabled by default.
- The default implementation is a silent no-operation service.
- OxHeart does not collect or transmit telemetry by itself.
- Connecting Firebase, Unity Analytics, or another service requires your own implementation and provider configuration.
- OxHeart includes no mandatory account, subscription, API key, or external service.
