About this asset
VaniaEngine is a Unity editor toolkit for configuring reusable 2D metroidvania and action-platformer systems. It gives developers and designers focused editor windows backed by reusable runtime components and ScriptableObject data.
The included playable Demo shows the output of the Character, Enemy, Room, Minimap, Inventory, Hazard, Loot, Save, Skill, Unlock, Health UI, and combat workflows. Open the tools from Tools > VaniaEngine, begin with Tools > VaniaEngine > Getting Started, then inspect Assets/VaniaEngine/Scenes/Demo.unity.
The package is intended for metroidvania games, 2D platformers, side-scrollers, action-adventure games, and prototypes. Systems and data are customizable and the source code can be extended.
The shipped Demo is configured and tested for Unity 6000.3 with Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and the 2D Renderer. The package uses Unity's new Input System only.
Asset uses Pirata One and Liberation Sans under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and Unity UI/TextMesh Pro shader support under the Unity Companion License; see Third Party/Third-Party Notices.txt in the package for details.
Offline documentation is included at Assets/VaniaEngine/Documentation/README.md.
