About this asset

Build your game UI with React. Keep Unity in control.

Create shops, inventories, HUDs and settings screens with React, Vite and TypeScript. Connect them to your game through the C# / JavaScript bridge, then refine layouts and styles during Play Mode.

Inspect the running interface with Live Twin.

Open the active Unity WebView in a browser mirror to inspect elements, click buttons, enter text and scroll. Actions reach the interface your game is already using, and the resulting state returns to the browser. Browser-enabled coding tools can use the same view without a ReLayer-specific extension. Annotation mode keeps the original viewport aligned while preventing interaction with Unity.

Keep working through changes.

Live development updates your screen during Play Mode. When Play needs an outdated local build, ReLayer rebuilds and validates it before continuing. Version 1.1.11 adds world-following Floating UI with three sample designs and improves Android reloads, installed media and shared-storage builds.

Carry a consistent style across your game.

Start with 25 themes and reusable buttons, cards, forms, menus and dialogs. Your app source stays in Assets/ReLayerUser, separate from package updates. Try the included Showcase without Node.js, then generate a starter scene for your own UI.

Before you buy

This is a code-based toolkit. Customization uses React and C# and requires compatible Node.js; Windows requires WebView2 Runtime. You connect the UI to your own game logic. Live Twin is Editor-only. See Technical Details for platform, architecture and interaction limits.

Technical details

Five new Floating UI themes

Tide, Pulse, Frontier, Urban and Astral join the original three styles. Complete names fit automatically. Native health/loss trails, centered damage/healing, timed attack/guard buffs, theme-specific combos and real eight-hit skills at 90ms intervals are included. Motion Off and system reduced motion remain supported.

Floating world UI in 1.1.12

World-following React image snapshots, eight visual styles, camera and distance controls, and a ready-to-run sample. Built-in and optional URP 14/17 integration. Content refresh is asynchronous; arbitrary world-space DOM input, video/iframes, HDRP, XR and hardware dynamic resolution are outside its validated scope. html-to-image is included under the MIT License.

Included

Editable React/Vite/TypeScript template, 25 theme presets, reusable UI kits, and Showcase with portrait/landscape examples.

C# / JavaScript bridge; Unity image and sprite display; Unity audio playback triggered from the overlay; camera previews; UI hit regions with gameplay input pass-through.

Interactive Live Twin for the active Play Mode WebView, ReLayer Studio with UI Delivery and Diagnostics, native Recovery, Preview Status, and overlay build tools.

Bundled, Addressables, Hosted, Local, and Custom Player UI delivery. ReLayer verifies complete UI archives and installs them atomically; the project controls CDN uploads, catalog updates, and release publication.

Public Editor WebView and overlay-build APIs for project-owned React tools, with authenticated documents, verified local packages, native bounds, and reload-safe lifetime management.

Project-owned app source in Assets/ReLayerUser. Templates, kits, samples, and public Unity facades are editable; private managed/native implementations ship compiled. This is not a full-source package.

Requirements

Unity 2022.3 or newer. Clean-import baselines: Unity 2022.3.62f2 and Unity 6000.5.2f1.

No Unity Package Manager or Asset Store package dependencies.

Node.js ^20.19.0 || >=22.12.0 only for editing/rebuilding the React/Vite source. Node.js 21 and 22.0–22.11 are unsupported. The packaged Showcase runs without Node.js. Managed development servers listen on 127.0.0.1.

Included kits use precompiled Tailwind CSS utilities. Use standard CSS for new styles; the package workflow does not include a Tailwind compiler.

Supported platforms and architectures

Windows Editor/Player: x86_64, with Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. Windows ARM64 is unsupported.

macOS Editor/Player: Apple Silicon arm64, macOS 11+. Uses WKWebView. Intel Macs, Rosetta/x64 Unity, and Universal players are unsupported.

iOS device: arm64, iOS 12+. Simulator: Apple Silicon arm64, iOS 14+. Uses WKWebView. Intel/x86_64 Simulator is unsupported.

Android: API 21+, arm64-v8a or x86_64, using platform WebView. ARMv7 and 32-bit x86 are not included.

WebGL: same-document DOM overlay aligned with the Unity canvas.

No first-party Linux backend is bundled.

WebGL deployment and validation

Production requires HTTPS. Plain HTTP is for localhost/127.0.0.1 development; file:// is unsupported.

Same-origin hosting is recommended. Split-origin/CDN setups require CORS for overlay resources and CSP permission for Unity/WASM, ReLayer connections/styles, and blob: module URLs. Unity gzip output must retain the correct JavaScript, WebAssembly, or binary MIME type and Content-Encoding: gzip.

Historical 1.1.9 runtime evidence: Unity 2022.3.62f2 WebGL IL2CPP with desktop Chrome and Edge. Exact 1.1.12 WebGL runtime validation is pending; Unity 6 WebGL, Firefox, Safari and mobile browsers remain unverified.

Live Twin scope

Editor-only, bound to 127.0.0.1. Up to eight browser tabs share the existing Play Mode WebView state through ordered commands; the mirror does not run a second React app.

Supports DOM forms, clicks, scrolling, keyboard, pointer, hover, and drag actions. It does not control the Unity Game View or 3D scene. DOM interaction remains available while paused; C# gameplay events can wait until Play Mode resumes.

Separate browser/authority tokens and a script-free mirror iframe. Synthetic events cannot satisfy event.isTrusted or browser user-activation checks. File selection/drop, clipboard permission, fullscreen, payment flows, downloads, external navigation, and arbitrary JavaScript are unsupported.

Licensing

ReLayer and its first-party managed/native artifacts are governed by the Unity Asset Store End User License Agreement. React, React DOM, Scheduler, clsx, tailwind-merge, Vite, precompiled Tailwind CSS utilities, and nanoid use the MIT License; lucide-react uses the ISC License. These terms apply only to the listed external components. See Assets/ReLayer/Documentation/Third-Party Notices.txt for exact versions, attribution, and complete license texts. No third-party WebView package or npm node_modules directory is bundled.
