About this asset

BiomeStamper is a Unity editor tool that provides procedural placement and management of trees and terrain details (e.g., grass, rocks) within user-defined biome areas on Unity terrains. It includes no pre-made content assets (trees, textures, etc.)—instead, it works with your existing terrain prototypes. The tool is highly customizable: users can define multiple biome areas with shapes (box, sphere, polygon), adjust density via noise and masks, select which tree/detail prototypes to use, set spacing and scaling ranges, and perform stamping/clearing operations globally or per-area. It's not genre-specific but particularly useful for projects with outdoor environments, such as open-world games, simulations, adventure titles, or any genre requiring natural terrain vegetation (e.g., RPGs, strategy games, racing with scenic tracks). It enhances realism and workflow efficiency without runtime overhead.

Technical details

  • Biome Area Definition: Create and manage multiple user-defined areas with shapes (box, sphere, polygon) for targeted vegetation placement.
  • Procedural Stamping: Automatically place trees and terrain details using noise, density controls, and prototype selection for natural distributions.
  • Flexible Controls: Adjust tree spacing, scaling ranges, detail masks (radial, directional, noise), and strength settings per area or globally.
  • Stamp/Clear Operations: Stamp new vegetation or clear existing content per area or across all areas with global actions.
  • Scene View Editing: Visualize and edit area shapes directly in the Unity Scene view, including polygon point manipulation.
  • Prototype Integration: Select from existing terrain tree and detail prototypes without providing pre-made assets.
  • Editor-Time Tool: Designed for Unity editor workflows with undo support, no runtime performance impact.
  • Shape-Specific Features: Box areas use size vectors; spheres use radius; polygons support custom points via click-to-add.
