WHY IT EXISTS


Most AI texture tools generate textures from scratch on untextured meshes — feed in a bare model, get textures out. ReskinIT does something different. It takes a model that's already textured and generates variants that respect the original's spatial layout, material regions, and design intent. The original texture acts as a semantic anchor; the new texture inherits its structure while transforming its content.


ReskinIT was built by an architect-and-programmer team to solve a real production problem: a mobile game studio needed 45 production-ready cosmetic skins across multiple characters whose UV layouts had been left in poor shape by a previous contractor. Standard pipelines would have required full remodeling and re-rigging — days of skilled work per character, multiplied across the catalog. AI texture tools weren't an answer either; they generate from scratch and don't preserve the existing UV layout. So we built the tool that didn't exist. The studio shipped on time, no remodeling, no re-rigging.


TWO MODES


Reskin Mode (the headline) — variant texturing on already-textured assets. Drop in a model, describe the new design, get up to 4 coherent variants that respect the original UV layout and submesh structure.


Texturer Mode — fresh seamless tileable PBR materials from text prompts, with normal and emission maps. Useful for environment work, walls, floors, terrain layers.

- Google Gemini API key with image generation (paid plan required — typically a few cents per generation)

- Built-in, URP, or HDRP — auto-detected

- Internet connection


DATA & PRIVACY


ReskinIT calls the Google Gemini API directly from your machine. Your API key and generation requests go straight to Google. Nothing is routed through our servers. API keys are stored locally and never committed to source control. No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party tracking.
