VoluSmokeVX is a lightweight, performance-focused smoke and fog solution for Unity.
The system uses a fake volumetric approach—multiple layered planes combined with custom Shader Graph effects—to create convincing atmospheric depth at a fraction of the cost of true volumetrics.
The package includes modular prefabs, customizable materials, and a curated set of presets for ground fog, drifting haze, smoke plumes, magical mist, and other ambient effects. Everything can be tuned quickly to match your art direction.
Built for URP and HDRP, VoluSmoke is suited for both stylized and semi-realistic projects targeting PC, console, and XR.
This technique excels in isometric, top-down, adventure, survival, RPG, strategy, and other elevated-camera experiences where strong atmosphere and stable performance are essential.
Because the effect relies on stacked geometry rather than true volumetric rendering, it is not intended for first-person and may be restrictive for certain third-person camera setups where the player can approach the effect from extreme angles.
