Plastic Army Men

Plastic Army Men — 3D Model Collection

A complete collection of classic green plastic toy soldiers — the kind you played with as a kid, now game-ready in Unity. Eight fully rigged characters, two detailed vehicles, eleven weapons, gear, structures, and accessories.

Important — what's included and what's not

This is a 3D model and rig pack. All characters have Mecanim Humanoid rigs, which means you can retarget any Humanoid animation to them immediately — Mixamo, Unity's Starter Assets, your own animations, or any animation pack from the Asset Store.

Included: idle animation, static poses, fully rigged Humanoid skeletons, IK chains on Flamethrower and Radio Operator.

Not included: walk, run, attack, or death character animations. These are widely available for free (Mixamo.com offers hundreds of free Humanoid animations that work with these characters out of the box).

Why no animations? Every game has different animation needs — an RTS plays differently from an FPS which plays differently from a tower defence game. Rather than include animations that might not fit your project, these characters are set up to work with whatever animation system you choose.

Free animations that work with this pack:

  • Mixamo.com — hundreds of free Humanoid animations
  • Unity Starter Assets — basic locomotion included with Unity
  • Any Humanoid animation from the Asset Store

Characters (8 rigged soldiers)

  • Rifleman
  • Bazooka Soldier
  • Sergeant
  • Flamethrower
  • Mine Sweeper
  • Radio Operator
  • Sniper
  • Machine Gun Operator

All characters share a base mesh and Humanoid rig, making it easy to use the same animations across all of them. Several static poses are included for placing pre-posed soldiers in dioramas, menus, or tower defence placement spots.

Vehicles (2 detailed models)

Jeep (15,000 vertices)

  • Tiltable windscreen
  • Removable spare tyre
  • Unditching tools, jerry can, and shovel
  • Mounted .50 calibre machine gun on the rear
  • All parts are separate objects for animation and customisation

Amphibious Seep (16,000 vertices)

  • Articulated windscreen
  • Splash guard
  • Rear propeller
  • Same modular approach as the Jeep

Weapons (11 types)

Rifle, Pistol, Hand Grenade, Bazooka, Flamethrower, Assault Rifle, Trench Gun, Sub Machine Gun, Land Mine, Sniper Rifle, .30 Cal Machine Gun

Each weapon is a separate prefab that can be attached to any character's hand bone.

Gear and accessories

  • Ammo Crate (openable lid)
  • Ammo types and clips/shells for all weapons
  • Minesweeper pack and tool
  • Shovel, Axe, Jerry Can
  • Ammo Belt, Ammo Box

Structures

  • Nissen Hut — modular model with separate pieces for destruction effects and customisation
  • Flag Poles with USA and Canadian flags (1024x1024 textures)

Special features

Toggleable base plate — every soldier stands on the classic plastic base plate. Toggle it on or off at runtime or in the editor using the included tool. You can even animate the base appearing or disappearing. Base on for toy-box aesthetics, base off for more realistic gameplay.

IK chains — the Flamethrower's hose and the Radio Operator's cables use Unity's Animation Rigging package for inverse kinematics. The hoses and cables follow the character's movement naturally.

Lip-sync mouth textures — bonus mouth shape textures (1024x1024) included for animated

lip-sync via texture swapping. Pair with Animation Tools for audio-driven mouth animation.

Mecanim Humanoid rigs — all characters use Unity's Humanoid rig configuration. Retarget any Humanoid animation from Mixamo, the Asset Store, or your own library. One animation works on all 8 characters.

Static poses — pre-posed character variants included for diorama scenes, menu screens, promotional art, or tower defence placement.

Performance

Every character is only 1,185 vertices. Optimised for mobile, WebGL, and large-scale scenes where you need dozens of soldiers on screen without killing performance. Detailed enough for close-up shots in stylised or toy-themed games.

Perfect for

  • Toy-themed shooters and action games
  • RTS and tower defence with a toy soldier aesthetic
  • Mobile games — 1,185 vertices per soldier means hundreds on screen
  • Diorama and sandbox games
  • Stylised war games and simulations
  • Educational projects and history apps
  • VR tabletop and miniature-style games
  • Marketing and promotional renders
