About this asset

S.P.A.C.E (Stellar Procedural Animated Custom Environment) is an advanced, fully customizable space-themed shader designed for Unity, ideal for creating immersive and dynamic space environments. Unlike traditional skyboxes, S.P.A.C.E uses spherical directional coordinates, allowing for fluid, animated celestial bodies and space phenomena that enhance the realism of your scenes.

Key Features:

  • Fully Customizable: Control star density, twinkle effects, sun position, planet size, atmosphere, nebula colors, and more through an intuitive set of parameters.
  • Dynamic Elements: All elements, from stars to planets, are animated, adding motion and life to your space environments.
  • High Performance: Optimized to maintain smooth framerates, even on average hardware, S.P.A.C.E ensures high performance, with tested speeds of around 400 fps on a mid-range PC.
  • Spherical Coordinates: S.P.A.C.E uses directional spherical coordinates instead of traditional flat skyboxes, providing greater flexibility in space scene design.
  • Color is a Gradient on stars, planets, Plasma, and the Cubemap ramp. Seed, Gamma, Brightness, and Contrast grade the composed sky. Brightness and Contrast at 1 leave it unchanged. Stars twinkle, planets spin, debris drifts, and the Classic corona and Plasma fireball animate.
  • HDRP support
  • Ideal for Various Projects: Whether you're building a space exploration game, a simulation, or a visually stunning cosmic background, S.P.A.C.E brings depth and beauty to your project.
  • VR Support: S.P.A.C.E looks great in VR applications.

S.P.A.C.E is built with efficiency in mind, offering a range of adjustable features while maintaining strong visual fidelity. Enhance your game's atmosphere with procedural nebulas, dynamic stars, and animated celestial bodies—all within a single shader package.

Technical details

List of VFXs:

  • Far Default: distant stars, density and twinkle, color ramp.
  • Mid Default: mid-range stars, density and twinkle, color ramp.
  • Near Spiky: close stars, density, color ramp.
  • Near Soft: close stars, softer shape, density, color ramp.
  • Perlin: procedural nebula with its own seed, color offset, brightness, contrast, and gamma.
  • Cubemap: nebula from a cubemap, hue shift, brightness, contrast, gamma, Original or Ramp color.
  • Classic: animated sun, size, direction, tint, corona speed.
  • Disc: sun disc and corona. Corona speed is hidden on this look.
  • Plasma: texture-driven fireball, noise texture, color ramp, brightness, speed, angle.
  • Gas Giant: banded planet, spin, atmosphere, shadow, color ramp.
  • Rocky Moon: cratered planet, spin, obliquity and azimuth, color ramp. Maps: Default, Frozen. Shades: Default, Dry.
  • Meteors: drifting streaks, tint, brightness, speed.
  • Specks: sparse dust, tint, brightness, density, speed.

Number of VFXs: 13

Texture sizes: Color ramps are 128×1, baked from the Gradient. Plasma noise included at 1024×1024. Six sample nebula cubemaps at 512. Stars, Perlin, Classic, Disc, Gas Giant, and debris stay procedural.

Custom shaders: The Editor assembles one sky shader per Sky Material for Built-in or URP, and an HDRP twin when HDRP is installed. It is not a multi-compile variant shader. Players do not generate shaders. Name: GameSoftCraft/S.P.A.C.E.
