About this asset

INTRODUCTION

Kalysteon introduces you to the Arctic Landscape: inspired by the icy expanses of the far

north, this pack captures the raw majesty of snow-capped mountains, monumental peaks and erosion sculpted by time, settings that are both realistic and imposing.

🔥 VERSION 2.0 - FULLY REBUILT 🔥

The entire terrain system has been rewritten from the ground up.

  • Now runs on HDRP AND URP from a single shader and a single material.
  • NEW scatter tool: populate your terrains from the masks you painted, in one click.
  • Real geometric relief on cliffs through tessellation (HDRP).
  • Mirror-corrected triplanar projection: no stretching, no seams, no repetition.
  • Procedural anti-tiling with zero extra texture cost.
  • Full 14-page documentation.

Existing owners: this update is free.

FEATURES

⛰️ Terrains ⛰️

10 heightmaps of different shapes, each with its own hand-painted masks in 8K.

1. Terrain Height: mountain ranges, peaks and flatter areas.

2. Cliff Mask: defines slopes and exposed rock.

3. Mud Mask: muddy, low-lying ground.

4. Snow Mask: where the snow settles.

5. Ice Mask: frozen surfaces.

🧶 The terrain material 🧶

Five blendable surfaces driven by your masks, competing by height so snow settles into the

cracks of rock instead of washing over it. One shader, one material, both pipelines.

Per surface:

  • Tiling, independent height tiling
  • Triplanar sharpness — the control that keeps cliffs looking like cliffs
  • Normal, roughness and ambient occlusion strength
  • Macro colour variation: large irregular patches that break visual uniformity
  • Warp: distorts coordinates to kill repetition on large surfaces

Global:

  • Height blending with per-surface bias
  • Mask softening and rotation
  • Procedural anti-tiling noise
  • Slope deposit: material settles on gentle ground, steep faces stay bare
  • Tessellation and subsurface scattering (HDRP)

🌲 Terrain Mask Scatter 🌲

A custom editor tool that places trees, rocks, props and ground cover using YOUR painted masks rather than Unity's splatmap, so what you see and what you walk through agree.

  1. Per-surface density, spacing, slope range and edge softness
  2. Reads masks, rotation and bias straight from the material: nothing to keep in sync
  3. Copy settings across every terrain in your open scenes
  4. Deterministic seed, preserves hand-placed objects

☀️ Lighting ☀️

Volume profiles for both pipelines, with every choice explained in the documentation.

Technical details

TERRAINS

  • 10 landscapes, each 8192 × 8192 m (≈ 67 km²), with their TerrainData
  • Demo scenes provided for both HDRP and URP
  • 10 heightmaps, up to 8192 × 8192
  • 40 hand-painted masks (Snow, Mud, Ice and Cliff for every landscape) up to 8192 × 8192

  • Built from a single Shader Graph targeting both HDRP and URP, with one shared material
  • Tessellation and subsurface scattering on HDRP

INCLUDED TOOL

  • Terrain Mask Scatter: editor tool that places trees, rocks, props and ground cover from your painted masks, across several terrains at once

LIGHTING

  • Volume profiles for HDRP and URP, with every setting explained in the documentation
