Jellyfish Aurelia

Jellyfish Aurelia is a realistic animated jellyfish asset for Unity, designed to add natural and visually convincing underwater life to your scenes.

The animation is created in a realistic style, while the textures and materials are based on real Aurelia jellyfish references.

Underwater Environment

The asset now includes a ready-to-use underwater showcase environment where you can immediately preview the jellyfish in an atmospheric underwater setting.

The environment includes:

  • An underwater cyclorama for a clean and seamless background.
  • Underwater lighting designed to create a natural underwater atmosphere.
  • Animated-style water caustics for realistic light patterns.
  • Underwater fog to create depth and atmospheric perspective.
  • A rock formation to add natural environmental detail.

This environment can also be used as a starting point for creating your own underwater scenes and presentations.

Animations

The asset includes 6 animations:

  1. Swim Normal — loop, frames 0–52
  2. Swim Slowly — loop, frames 52–156
  3. Swim Slowly Long — loop, frames 156–585
  4. Swim Normal Long — loop, frames 585–846
  5. Calm — loop, frames 846–1046
  6. Death — frames 1046–1196

Mesh & Transparency Improvements

The model has been significantly redesigned and optimized.

Previously, the jellyfish consisted of multiple separate mesh parts. The model has now been combined into a single mesh, which significantly improves the way transparency is rendered.

This update fixes previous transparency issues, including visual artifacts, flickering, and incorrect rendering on transparent elements. Materials now display correctly and consistently without these visual glitches.

Previous Major Improvements

The previous version also introduced several major improvements:

  • Completely redesigned rig and skeleton.
  • Added a root bone, allowing the entire jellyfish to be scaled without distortion during animation.
  • Bone scale values are no longer animated; animation uses position parameters only.
  • Improved material quality, including brightness, clarity, and sharpness.
